David, of Shavington and formerly Cheltenham and Sandbach, passed away on 1st December 2025 aged 88 years. He was the beloved Husband of Janet, much loved Dad to Paul, treasured Grandad and Great Grandad. The funeral service will take place at the Birches Crematorium on Monday 22nd December 2025 at 11am. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to the Stroke Association.

I always looked forward to David’s visits to Cheltenham, arranging his desk ‘just so’ and
was happy to be his ‘personal assistant’ for all things computer and coffee based.
After asking me one afternoon if I’d mind him using my name and my daughter’s name in one of his novels, he was quick to point out that we weren’t as horrible as our namesakes. I’ve read the book and am glad that he told me this in advance!
A talented journalist, a character who always made me laugh and a real gentleman.

I can remember as a child, my Uncle David when he would visit my ninny and grandad in Northwich. He’d always make me laugh by pulling funny faces. Growing up in later years, we had telephone conversations and he was always witty and genuinely interested in things. He was also very kind after my mum, Pauline, his sister died three years ago. He would ring periodically, to ask how my dad, Ron was faring. He made my dad happy by telling him that my mum was truly happy with him. Sending condolences to Janet and to Paul.
